verses that precede the blessing of Psa. 89: we have great stress laid upon the
strength and victory of the Lord. Rahab is broken in pieces, enemies are scattered. As
Psa. 72: closes the second book of the Psalms with a glorious picture of the reign of
Christ, so Psa. 89: closes the third book with a picture of His mighty triumph.
We too in our sphere are strangers, pilgrims, exiles. We too are sustained by hope,
and are blessed indeed, because by faith we know that Jubilee sound, and can even now
call ourselves "more than conquerors through Him that loved us".
