upon the change of his name and establishing of the covenant (Gen. 17: 1-8), there is
brought in the sign and the seal of the covenant of faith, in which is set forth in typical
rite the utter setting aside of the flesh.
God's blessing of gratuitous justification is limited to the true circumcision--those
who boast in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh. Ignorance of this truth led
Israel to go about to establish their own righteousness, and not to submit themselves unto
the righteousness of God. "For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every
one that believeth" (Rom. 10: 4).
