The Saviour not only said peace, but He pointed to the grounds of peace, the marks of
Calvary, and a risen Lord. May we ever see that our peace takes its sole rise from this
fount of mercy. May we never lean for peace upon the bruised reeds of man's good
works; peace, true lasting peace, is found only by faith in the Lord, who for our sakes
died and rose again. This is "peace with God." The peace of God is something different,
though of course connected. Perhaps some other time we may have an opportunity of
considering this other aspect of peace.
