Acts 7: ‘Fulness’ not obtained by straight road: warning of bondage, marking time.
The letter ‘V’ shows the shape of God’s purpose.
(Company chosen before foundation, Eph. 1, not found in glory but down here!).
Firstly, descent before rising up — The cross is essential at the lowest point.
Eph. and Col. emphasise ‘fulness’, but Phil., that Christ ‘emptied Himself’: cannot have one without the other.
Redemption always ~ and ~ — ‘exodos’ and ‘eisodos’— vital for understanding of PLEROMA.
Exodus cannot be ignored.
Ephesians follows same pattern.

Exodus 2: Emphasis on descent to depth before rising again.
Pattern through purpose of ages.
Egypt, a picture of this world — reproach, house of bondage, bitterness.
Note three words — 1) Preparation (Moses); 2) Reparation (40 years); 3) Separation (promises).
Pharaoh attempted compromises, but ‘not an hoof left’.
The last plague was God’s first challenge to Pharaoh — He remembered, waited, to fulfil His covenant.
Compromises have been repeated throughout history by the enemy.

John 1: Lamb of God. Exod. 12 — Passover Lamb — verse 2, timing important.
Plagues show mercy before fmal act.
Note a lamb; the lamb; your lamb; it.
‘Ye shall keep it’, covered all Israel.
Lamb of God foreordained, 1 Pet. 1.
Eating of lamb vain without blood on door (philosophers will not have blood).

Heb. 9: The Holy Ghost signifying that the earthly tabernacle was merely a figure (conscience).
Without blood, no remission, no admission.
God condescended to dwell in a tabernacle (movable tent), showing pity and mercy, but no admission without blood.
The ark is mentioned first — God starts within, we approach from without.
Lastly, the altar of offering, but this is the only way in.
Ordinances were imposed until Christ — more perfect tabernacle (Heb. 9:11): cannot by-pass the Son of God.

Isa. 53 and 54: On the mount, Christ spoke of His decease (exodos): Heb. 10:19 — boldness to enter (eisodos).
Exod. 25: perfect order — the ark first, is most important.
Warning. Satan is busy with travesty (Zech. 5).
Mercy seat — ~ will I meet with, commune with — reconciliation, atonement (Amos 3:3).
Isa. 53:12 — intercession, meeting place.

Eph. 1 and 2: (2:22 — habitation of God: 3:17 — Christ may dwell).
Access to holy God only after acceptance, made meet.
Via altar, layer (cleansing by blood and water): candlestick — service (cf. Eph. 4:4-6): altar of incense: table of shewbread (frankincense) perpetual reminder, memorial.
While access is the goal, there must be a way to it — within the vail, boldness.

Psa. 73: (v. 17 — sanctuary). Exod. 40:33 — Moses finished the work, then a cloud covered the tent.
God’s leading and presence ‘throughout all their journeys’, but leading had to be followed.
Not always direct route, waiting difficult.
Obedience every step, ‘as the Lord commanded Moses’ — 7 times.
     1) Tabernacle — to dwell:
     2) Ark — to commune:
     3) Table — acceptance (Eph. 1):
     4) Candlestick — service:
     5) Altar of incense — intercession:
     6) Altar of offering — service with acceptance:
     7) Layer — fellowship.
Christ’s finished work is the only basis for all our hope.
