75.  SPECIAL PASSAGES IN
THE BOOK OF PROVERBS
ACQUIRING NEW LIGHT



In the Companion notes to the Book of Proverbs, it will be observed that certain words are carefully discriminated:  such as the words for "fool", "poor"; the singular and plural of the wicked, the righteous, &c., are noted.  But certain proverbs also are presented in a new light altogether.  Among these are the following:
 


1:7.
"The fear of the LORD".
1:17.
"In vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird".
2:7.
"He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous".
3:2, 16.
"Length of days" supposed to be given by "wisdom".  See also 4:10; 9:11; 10:27.
5:2.
"That thy lips may keep knowledge".
5:14.
"Almost all in evil".
16:1.
"The preparations of the heart in man...is from the LORD".
21:1.
"The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD as the rivers of water".
21:4
"An high look, and a proud heart...is sin".
